Click the following links for Mrs. J's quick & dirty video tutorial on podcasting:
Please follow these steps to create your podcast:
- Choose a topic, approve topic w/ either Mrs. K. or Mrs. J.
- Brainstorm questions. Word process these questions in an easy to read format.
- If conducting an interview: Contact prospective interviewee to arrange interview time. Be polite and respectful of busy schedules. Be sure to clearly explain to the target audience what you are proposing and that ultimately the interview will be placed on the web (Elgin Echo & Mrs. K's wiki). When they agree to the interview, leave them a copy of the questions you have drafted.
- Prior to the interview, get the iPod kit from the library. Before recording with the iPod, sync it to the computer you will sync to after the interview.
- After the interview, retrieve the digital recording from the iPod. Import the digital file into Audacity (PC) or Garageband (Mac) and edit as needed.
- Choose a jingle to be placed at the start and end of your interview. Get this from AEA Online SoundsAbound http://www.soundzabound.com/ (remember it is password protected) or if using Garageband, there are jingles there.
- When the audio file meets your expectations, export it as an mp3 file.
- Listen to the entire mp3 file to ensure it is what you think it is.
- Find a graphic to accompany your interview. You might chose to take a picture, or you can get one from AEA Online Clip Art http://schools.iclipart.com/iowa/ (again, password protected).
- Email the audio file and the graphic to Mrs. J. johansen_lezley@valley.k12.ia.us; I will then email the products to the Elgin Echo and Mrs. Krambeer.
- If you interviewed someone, offer a thank you, a link to the final product, and information about when it will be posted.
See Mrs. Johansen at any point in this process when you need assistance.
